And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard form the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ…(2 John:5-7a NIV)
Motivating Monday!
Tragedy struck our nation with news of Kobe Bryant’s death, his daughter, and seven others. One of the world’s best basketball players, he leaves behind a beautiful wife and three daughters. As heart wrenching as this tragedy is, millions of babies are aborted- as the 47th March for Life was successful this past Friday. When considering the number of babies aborted during these years, how many Kobe Bryant’s, Jane Austin’s, or Donald Trump’s- who are called for such a time as this? As John was aging, he continued with the message…we are to love one another. He is quoted saying, “Because it is the Lord’s command, and if this only is done, it is enough.”
Commands
Where societal confusion lures more and more into the hippy era definition of free love, Scripture is clear how God defines love. With all Scripture God breathed, every author wrote as God inspired, same for me. God’s love is defined as love that we walk in obedience to his commands. John 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. This flipped movement away from honoring God’s Infallible Word- entirely, is failing to walk in obedience to God’s commands. Those rejecting God’s commands, His inspired Word, are in trouble. How many times have we tried to speak Truth, and it’s like a fire ant attack. How many individuals are isolating themselves to only people who believe like they do? It’s alarming- no doubt. This causes greater divisions…one side moving further away from truth and obedience.
Obedience
Trust and obey- for there’s no other way…a much loved children’s song, powerful for every individual. I’ve been accused of arguing with people. Being bold, stating God’s Commands/His Truth…let’s remember is sharper than a doubled edged sword, strikes an opposing view sharp. With Biblical knowledge, and reaching Spiritual maturity, God’s definition of love, the importance to walk in God’s love..is standing firm in obedience to God’s Word- His commands. Let’s be motivated to walk in love- God’s love in complete obedience to His commands. In order to know His commands, we will be thrilled to study God’s Word, The Bible. If never have read…I encourage you to begin in John- John 1. It’s life changing- life giving- life eternal!
Be encouraged!
