God: Trust and Obey- No Other Way

God: Trust and Obey- No Other WayHe replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” (Luke 11:28 NIV)

Forward Friday!

Jesus always directed people to the Word of God. John 1:1, Jesus is the Word. He knows the Word and how effective when applied to daily life. If we look at examples He set, we too will keep God’s Word ready to use for every situation encountered. Those who hear the Word of God and obey are blessed. Woe to us who do not listen and obey…

Tap…Tap…

Yesterday, I re-learned an age old lesson. This happens when we forget or choose to ignore lessons of the past. The Holy Spirt is always prepared to counsel- guiding us in the way we should go. Leaving for a few days with our oldest child in Texas, I could not believe the weather would be cold enough to take a winter coat or heavy sweater. I continued feeling the urge to take, then talked myself out of doing. Except, I finally relented and placed my heavier sweater and beanie hat in the car. Same tap felt traveling to airport and once again ignored the Holy Spirit, urging me to take the hat- at least. Arriving in Austin, TX to the fine temps in the 30’s proved I should have listened. The night became colder and snowier.

God

My lack of listening/obeying God, I was cold and uncomfortable, completely missing God’s blessing to keep warm in an epic snowfall. All was not lost, I did listen to the Holy Spirit about contacting our friend, who took our Christmas photos. Last night was the deadline for discounted Christmas cards. Listening to the Holy Spirit, we received a financial blessing.

Understanding

I share these two examples, showing how simple listening and obeying can really be- leading to blessings. First, we must trust Jesus Christ. Aligning our lives with God’s Word, removing clutter- improves hearing ability. Then, learn about the advocate God has given each child, the Holy Spirit. Gaining this knowledge, we begin to communicate with the Holy Spirit, understanding dialogue when spoken. All for our good…listen and obey.

Be encouraged!
