Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:23 ESV)
We’re moving forward, backwards, or stagnate. Much depends on the condition of our hearts. Yesterday, during prayer I was reminded of a vital lesson learned long ago. The heart can be most deceptive. It’s our flesh fueling our hearts to sink deeper into sin. It is our minds- where we gain knowledge, wisdom, and understanding as God desires for us- to guard our hearts, and when doing so…our hearts become wellspring of life. This is where we align with God’s perfect will for our lives, moving forward into righteousness and holiness. If stagnate or seem to be getting behind…double check what’s happening within our hearts. Do we believe we are part of this world, or set apart for God’s purpose?
“They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth, your word is truth,” found in John 17:16, 17…words written in red, spoken by Jesus. Now, connecting our hearts to either God’s Word or what’s happening in this world. As Jesus prayed to God, we are blessed with this very truth. Sanctify is defined as set apart, declare holy, consecrate or free from sin, purify. Truth, Biblical Truth will set us free, no longer desiring sin’s indulgence.
If we live by faith, actions prove true; opposite is reacting in fear. When reacting in fear, people hurt the very people who have looked out for them. Decisions are not made for best quest for success. Because, if success means costing people who have been a source of strength… then not much of a win, quite the loss in days ahead. Living by faith, is trusting God for every need, even in times of uncertainty. God’s thoughts are always higher than our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. When ideas come and seem so beyond reach- they’re not. With God’s help, trusting Him, believing it can be done…it will be accomplished. And, this my friend, is moving forward.
