Demons: Jesus’s Example Demonstrates Authority

Demons: Jesus's Example Demonstrates AuthorityJesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else- to the nearby villages- so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. (Mark 1:38,39 NIV)

Authority

Jesus’s ministry came with authority in teaching and healing. His authority fueled by time spent in prayer. His plan moving to nearby villages came together after early morning prayer. He did not ask his disciples or leaders in the synagogues, He sought direction straight from God.

Demons

Chronicling Jesus’s ministry, we often see him drive out demons. If Jesus drove out as many demons as He did, will we allow ourselves to think demons do not exist today? One key lesson I’ve learned is backed by Ephesians 6- our struggles are not with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authority, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evils in the heavenly realms.

Understanding

Satan tried coming against Jesus’s authority immediately after his 40 day fast. Why? Satan saw Jesus weak. However, as most of the world lacks understanding, stronger our fast more empowered we become. Not only within, yet breaking barriers caused by evil forces in the heavenly realm.

Weakness

Whatever causes one’s weakness, satan does not care, he’s ready to weaken further. Not only the individual, yet as many relations that threaten him. It’s easy to look at flesh and blood thinking their actions cause our irritation. Satan is able to work through any weakened spirit. Pitting one against another. My life changed when I stopped reacting- acknowledging this principle. If satan is not allowed footing, his grip is lost.

Faith

We’re all capable under God’s authority, to demand the devil to flee- he must flee. Once satan has someone bound- caught in his web, it’s time to seek someone trained in this area. Remember, there was a time when disciples were not successful in this area.

Forward Friday!

Today’s blog is meant to prod our thinking. Seek God during prayer to further these thoughts. Are we one to move forward in training or does God want us equipped with knowledge to guard ourselves against satan’s schemes? Forward Friday! Let’s move forward prepared!

Be encouraged!
