Valentine’s Day: Encouraging Toward Love

Valentine's Day: Encouraging Toward LoveAnd let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24 NIV)

Valentine’s Day

Forward Friday! Valentine’s Day is upon us. Love will be expressed various ways. Cupid may shoot his arrow and strike right through to hearts. Too bad if arrow fails to strike due to hardened heart. I really do not place much faith in cupid, however, I do place all my faith in Jesus Christ. When we decide to follow Jesus, He desires to lavish His love on us.

Instructions

I made one of the easiest recipes, I could not believe my eyes. Did the Pioneer Woman really say buy refrigerated cookie dough? I really do not need to mix peanut butter cookies from scratch? Ok! Let’s give this recipe a try:

  1. Slice peanut butter dough into 1 inch slices.
  2. Cut each slice into fourths.
  3. Insert each piece into mini muffin sheet
  4. Place into 350 deg oven for 9-11 minutes
  5. Once done, sink mini Reece’s cup or chocolate kiss into each cookie.

It’s not my nature to take short cuts while cooking. However, these instructions were easy to follow with outcome melting in mouths. This reminds me exactly how the Bible works. Studying God’s Word is like receiving instructions to ease life’s demands. Following God’s instructions, keep us from wasting time. We stop taking detours and find straight paths.

Sacrifice

Love for Jesus is expressed by obeying His commands. Jesus set the example by obeying God’s command, becoming the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Following God’s command, we remain in God’s love. Accepting Jesus’s gift of greater love, following God’s commands, Jesus calls us friends. There is no greater love, than this man lying down His life for His friends.

Love

Are you ready to move forward? Ready to receive God’s lavished love? Soak it in like warm sun on a cool day. Absorbing His love till every intricate part of our body is filled to overflow. Once we become full of God’s love, we’re capable of releasing His love to others. What better Valentine’s Day gift than releasing God’s love to others. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Be encouraged!
