Clean Hearts, Right Spirits Vs. Detestable

Clean Hearts, Right Spirits Vs. DetestableCreate in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10 ESV)

Difference

There is a clear difference between clean water and dirty water. Now visualize adding mud to the dirty water. Can you feel the heaviness mud weighs down? Any time our heart needs cleaning, there is a heaviness needing to be lifted.

There are six things the Lord hates and seven that are detestable:

  1. Haughty eyes
  2. Lying tongue
  3. Hands that shed innocent blood
  4. A heart that devises wicked schemes.
  5. Feet that are quick to rush into evil.
  6. A false witness who pours out lies.
  7. A man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Any depth of these seven, will wrong God’s spirit within. When I think of something detestable, I think of Revelation 3:15,16 God spews out the luke-warm. The worse thing I’ve eaten would have been spewed if I could have- turnips. Heavy seasoned turnips deceived me, they looked like cooked apples. Just like thinking turnips were apples, society tricks our minds to believe false as true. Be it forced peer pressure, career motives, or sympathetic to other’s causes. If any area goes against God’s Word, we either stand with God or choose alternative. Choosing alternative is automatically satan disguised as acceptance and tolerance.

Mandate

As Christians, accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, we accept the mandate in Mark 16:15 to go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to all creation. As others go abroad, we have individuals near needing Jesus. Not the image of Christ set aside used during agreement and dismissed when world views conflict. The percentage of Christians dismissing parts of the Bible is growing. Alarming those keeping right spirits within, and comforting those wanting to justify sin.

Clean hearts

Wednesday is always a day to dig deeper, revealing the heart of the matter. Clean hearts are free to agree to disagree and continue to speak truth in love. Because with clean hearts, we’ve worked hard developing a heart like Christ, to love as Christ loves. We cannot condone false sense of security when God’s Word is clear.

Lord, Create…

Studying Revelation this year in BSF- we’re reminded God has already won this battle and the devil is defeated. Let’s not give a defeated devil any victories in our lives. Satan knows scripture and knows exactly how to twist to look like Truth, yet turn out to be false. Trust me, I’ll never assume cooked apples are apples again. I will spend time evaluating these seven items repenting if needed.

Lord, create a clean heart in us, and renew the right spirit within, in Jesus’s name. Amen.

Be encouraged!
