For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. I’ve been told this week by one confident in their own ideology, it is not about studying the Bible. How will we ever know if we do not study scripture? Where has my friend been misled? Along with all other individuals thinking same.
I keep seeing an empty platter being passed around to individuals. When offered, there is nothing for a person to receive. This seems to be a little modern day parable. When connecting with someone, having substance in what we believe, must be in place before being able to pass around God’s goodness- for one to taste and see that God is good. Yet, those perishing do not see themselves as foolish. They actually consider themselves quite smart.
During one’s salvation experience, The Holy Spirit is gifted to us, living within. Jesus taught He had to leave in order for The Holy Spirit to come. He’s the Spirit of Truth, counselor, helper, never leading us wrong. God’s message builds, satan destroys. When sharing faith, we want substance to share God’s message. Unbelievers will be quick to pick up on emptiness.
The fact is people are perishing. Famous or not- if a public statement is made denouncing Christianity, God will hold each one accountable. To know guidelines God judges by- we gain biblical knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Scripture is only confusing when lacking understanding. Jesus will open minds to understand scripture. Not until we ask God to help us understand, will acton take place. Next time when confused/frustrated with attempts studying God’s Word, stop and have a little talk with Jesus. He is faithful.
