Things: Worldly Things…Do Not Love

Things: Worldly Things...Do Not LoveDo not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15 ESV)

Friday!

Forward Friday! Every time, I think of Onward Christian Soldier. As we move into the weekend, I trust the word God brings forth will help us move forward. Things of this world are not to be loved. God does want us to live an abundant life and I believe God’s Word about tithing. However, guarding mind and heart helps avoid pitfalls of loving the world.

Things

Chapter two continues defining what it means to love the world. The desires of the flesh and eyes, along with pride of life. As the world passes along with desires, those doing God’s will abides with Christ forever.

Friends…

Friends, I believe we have many people misled. Lots of people we know indulge senseless into this world. More enticed we become, stronger grip satan has hold. The Holy Spirit works sending conviction nudges- like a flashing red light. Stop! Don’t go any further. We acknowledge this nudge, stop what we’re doing, repent from wrong and ask God to forgive. He’s waiting for this process to take place in every life.

Deception begins…

I’ve been listening to this song- how wide, how deep is your love? It’s vastness cannot be imagined. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are not ours. The ruler of this world, satan, causes individuals to question beliefs we’ve had since childhood or Biblical truths recently shared. This trail of deception begins with doubting, a dangerous thing to do- James 1:6 says we must believe and not doubt. A person who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is double minded, unstable in all he does.

Moving Forward

Once a warning nudge is felt, acknowledge this and turn from satan gaining a tighter grip. God’s love is immeasurable. He loved us so much, He sent Jesus and The Holy Spirit- all powerful, all knowing. Why avoid love from an all powerful, all knowing God? (Exactly why Satan deceives- he does not want us to experience.) As we grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding, we are less apt to fall for deception. Let’s move forward, not being deceived.

Be encouraged!
