“If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, you healer.” (Exodus 15:26 ESV)
All Glory
August 2, 2017. Fourteen years ago, David and I held our baby girl giving God all glory and praise for her health and ease of our delivery. Eight months prior to her birth, I had my first back surgery. A few months after our second child’s birth, out of the blue one day, I began experiencing lower back irritation. I was informed my 32 year old body, had a 55 yr old spine. Irritation grew down my left leg, therapy had minimal success. During a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic, I had a nerve block injection, all seemed better.
Pain
A week later, I did hear the Lord say get up and pray, yet, I chose sleep. After waking and stretching, I heard a snap. I literally could not move without excruciating pain. I called my husband who came home. If I could have only reached the bathroom. I rolled out of bed, thinking I could crawl…wrong idea. My sweet little guy, my oldest, brought me apple slices to make me feel better. An ambulance was called and even though this infliction came upon me- God never left me. When the ER dr. lifted my leg that did not have irritation, I thought certain my body was shutting down and I was dying.
Weeks…
When a disc ruptures- like a jelly filled doughnut losing all its jelly, what else can one do? Surgery took place four days later- 1oo% success. No pain or numbness lingered. Two weeks after surgery, I had an allergic reaction- told to stop taking all medicine- including heavy doses of Ibuprofen. Four weeks after surgery, our first outing to Cape. I felt being home so long caused a little woozy feeling. This lingered trying to blame sinus, visited our family doctor. During this appointment, it was like I knew, “This feels like I am pregnant.” Next stop, Wal-greens for a pregnancy test. Still wearing a back brace, we found out we were six weeks pregnant. Our OBGYN assured us if all went well, baby will be fine. And the good Lord saw us through to a fine, healthy baby girl. Here we were thinking two boys would be great, God said…wait! One more will be complete.
God is Faithful
I share this story today, because God is faithful. We all have times in our lives when curve balls are thrown. Yet, diligently listening to God’s voice, doing right in His eyes, hearing all commandments and keeping statutes- is the same promise for us today, as it was for the Israelites. We do not have to stay down- The God that heals me, is the same that is willing to heal you. Take time today- ask Him.
Be encouraged!
