Compare/Contrast
Considering all who have left the church, those leaving churches standing on God’s infallible Word, who want to pick and choose what they believe in the Bible, have a tendency to trust man more. Individuals brought up in church, knowing scripture and truth- who have left by their own will are now raising children not raised in church. Here we almost have an entire generation will little Biblical knowledge. What we all have experienced, is writing a compare and contrast paper. Today’s scripture is not weighted to one side. We’ll compare both sides in scripture.
“But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7. 8 NIV)
OT- History/Valuable
Jeremiah was a prophet. Take time to read this OT book of the Bible. Whoever speaks against the OT- be concerned. The OT is filled with history, best for us to learn. Judah’s sin would lead to Babylonians invasion. He called their faith…half-hearted religion. These were God’s chosen people. What we learn in the OT more than anything- God approves enemy invasions, when God’s children turn their hearts away from God- the One True God.
Thankful
Thankfully, in our last Presidential election, majority of God’s children came together to stand strong against further deception taking over. We’ve been given more time…time to fulfill God’s purposes and see more souls come to Christ. After seeing the compare and contrast of trusting in man or trusting in self, we clearly see trusting in God is path to be chosen. Not only are we like a tree planted by the waters, our roots are connected to the stream. When times of drought comes, we’ll never fail to bear fruit. This is a promise from The Lord.
Soften Hearts
Before we let ourselves or others abandon God and trust in self, let’s take time with today’s scripture. As we compare and contrast trusting in the Lord…let’s soften hearts to understand. Interesting the next verse in Jeremiah 17 deals with the heart deceitful above all things and beyond care- who can understand it? We must not give up on others nor allow ourselves to be deceived.
Be encouraged!
