Desperate Need: God’s Word and Prayer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6, 7 ESV)

Prayer

We are desperate for prayer…our nation, states, cities/communities, churches, families, individuals…all involving people. There used to be a direct alignment with communities- churches- families. I’ve been thinking…later 80’s early 90’s, the way we’ve always known began shifting. Uncertain times are not necessarily new, America has traveled through many turbulent years.

A Real Deal…

The History Channel shared the story of Bobby Kennedy. He seemed like a real deal to lead our country, connecting with people across America. Seems like every time we have a President or Governor connecting well with people, someone or group will be against them. Discussing this with David, he reminded me about Proverbs 29:10 Bloodthirsty men hate a man of integrity and seek to kill the upright. Terribly sad. Why come against individuals doing good? Kennedy saw first hand hardships in the Mississippi Delta as all over America, wanting to end the V war, and bring people back together.

Three Things…

Incredible how far life has evolved from the 60’s. As societal confusion expands, we can stay solid, if…we trust God’s Word. We are not to be anxious about anything, however, in everything….prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. Three things…prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving, then make request known to God. In return, God’s peace surpasses all understanding, guarding our hearts and minds…in Christ Jesus. Why would anyone reject God’s offering on a good day, and worse during turbulent times? The only legit reason…they lack knowledge. People perish for lack of knowledge. Not a good place to be…perishing. We are desperate in need of Word knowledge.

Ready?

Are we ready to pray? The enemy is alive and frantic, constantly roaming for who he can devour. Too much time is slipping…satan is gripping teens and adults, desperate need to pray against all addictive forces. Praying a permanent hedge of protection around our children, open family communications, and schools creating plans being pro-active against drugs, vaping, and alcohol. We need campaigns…national slogans…like…Don’t Do Drugs- this is your brain on drugs or Just Say No. Maybe even create new ones…most of all…we need to pray. God’s intervention needed most in many cases, stopping addictions and healing battered families. We need Jesus.
