Gravitate…Which Direction, Cold or Hot?

“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” John 18:37 NIV)

Forward Friday!

The conversation between Pilate and Jesus is one to read. Pilate found no basis to charge Jesus- only a custom continued Jesus’ path to the cross. Who is Jesus? Pilot went to the crowd and they chose to free Barabbas. It’s funny how memories can be stronger than others. One of the first church plays I participated in focused on today’s Scripture. I was in the crowd shouting, “Give us Barabbas!” This memory is important to who I am today, understanding the impact made. Because…today, there are no shouts for Barabbas, people simply reject Jesus, and ignore Truth.

Truth

Jesus is a King, King of the Jews. He came into this world testifying to Truth- and all who side with Truth, listen to Jesus and those Jesus calls. There is Truth and there are lies. Satan is the Father of lies, there is no Truth in him. The more we want sin justified, we consciously begin to gravitate- accepting Satan’s lies. He counterfeits all God’s Truth. It’s like handing me a chocolate brownie Sunday w/extra cool whip and tell me zero calories. Once this has been eaten- who’s paying the consequences? We do!

Gravitate

When do we say…enough? Societal confusion increases daily. Individuals gravitate to more like-minded thinking. If we are gravitating to people who lack Truth…no compromise made will be justified in God’s eyes. We have to step back and check our Spiritual meter…are we running cold or hot? If we are cold, The Holy Spirit will only convict for so long, and then will be turned over to the pressing sin. To ever break away from bondage, and once satan has us gripped, we are in bondage- something to think about…God’s Word is vital. Listening to God’s Truth will set us free. Sadly, if found Luke warm…this is worse than being cold. Yikes!

Moving Forward! 

It’s Friday and let’s move forward! Make sure we are not silently rejected Jesus by our actions. Gravitate towards warming through building Gods’ Word, like a fire on a cold day. There are many promises and answers to life’s questions…all within God’s Word. Let’s be found on side of Truth, listening to Jesus- no sweeter place to be.
