“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23, 24 NIV)
Motivating Monday!
The Samaritan woman could recognize Jesus as an important religious leader. Though, Jesus was clear how the Samaritans worshiped what they did not know. His disciples where surprised he was talking to a woman. The disciples thought he must be hungry, yet when Jesus told them He has food- they wondered who brought bread. These individuals all close to Jesus- in direct conversations still had trouble understanding. For us today, we have God’s Word, The Bible and if we seek Truth, which is debatable for many caught in societal confusion and others misled into deception.
Spirit and Truth
Jesus reveals Himself to willing worshipers who worship in spirit and truth- for these are the worshipers God, The Father, seeks. This young lady knew the Messiah was coming, expecting Him to explain everything. Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.” Imagine her excitement! Scripture informs many Samaritans believed, due to her testimony. As with most experiences- if they are wonderful, we want others to experience, too. This is the case with Jesus. I never would be blogging, if God did not see me as a worshiper- seeking Him in spirit and truth. It is during these times, when we are worshiping The Father, seeking Him in spirit and truth, we are seen trustworthy and ready to learn more of our calling.
Hearts
When truth is not wanted much these days, many worshipers fail to worship in spirit and truth. They may agree Jesus is the Son of God, Savior of the World, yet do not want to follow God’s Words- His Truth. Picking and choosing will not work well in God’s sight. He is looking/seeing our hearts and what flows from our hearts. As we have discussed before…hearts can be the well spring of life flowing or become the most deceptive. And how we worship The Lord, determines if we worship in spirit and truth…if we are the kind God seeks. A time is coming. Personally, I want to be pleasing to The Lord, and have Jesus reveal more Truth. How about you?
