In my distress I called upon the Lord; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. (Psalm 18:6 ESV) Distress Know anyone in distress? Might be ourselves or the next person crossing paths. Being in distress does not take much to knock peace off kilter. Life can throw a curve ball and land us into distress. So…what do we do? Look for a helpful source. Sources Sources may be many and they can be expensive…if not financial, habits that lead to addictions come at a great […]

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. (Luke 24:45 NIV) Passion Who stayed up to watch beginning of the World’s Series last night- all 14 innings? I understand these individuals have passion for baseball. I confess…I am one of them. I love baseball, even with my favorite team’s play cut short. Yet, we feel this passion burn within watching play by play action. Conscious Decision Once I became serious with reading God’s Word, this same passion infused my heart. I made a conscious decision to sit down and begin reading my Bible. This is key to […]

“As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and another thirty.” (Matthew 13:23 ESV) Fall Motivating Monday! Continuing talk about hearing and understanding makes me think about my father. Fall time is one of my favorites. We had so much fun hosting hayrides and hot dog roasts. Back then we thought cool to clean out the grain truck. Walls kept everyone safe and such a hoot when my father would tilt the bed back. Rich […]

The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. (Psalm 14:2 NIV) Stamina It’s a known fact- limit diet by cutting out sweets, white bread, etc…and exercise, our bodies tone while losing weight. Limit, lose, cut out, exercise, tone are all ways to gain spiritual strength. Building physical strength develops stamina as we enter mature years. The difference in building spiritual strength develops stamina to run the race set before us- purpose planned before ever in our mother’s womb. Ready for a work out? Acknowledge This week […]

For fasle Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect- if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. (Matthew 24:24,25 NIV) Excuses Dear friends, we will have no other excuse for being deceived than our lack of studying God’s Word. Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives responding to the disciples desire to know signs of Jesus’s return and end of the age. Ideologies I sat next to a gentleman listening to him explain his own ideology of hell- represents all personal ideologies in today’s times. For […]

For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. For by you I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. (Psalm 18:28,29 ESV ) Walls This image gained my attention from the first time my eyes were drawn and thoughts began to stir. When I look…I see walls around hearts destroyed and foundations of faith shattered. With walls down, violated feelings exist, and numbness may have delayed healing. Devastation Whatever destroyed this home, I’m unsure. Only you know what has caused situations surrounding your heart. When […]

And the words of the Lord are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. (Psalm 11:6 NIV) Eye Contact How many individuals cross paths every day and never make eye contact. I’ve caught myself many times here lately- walking with eyes down. Imagine lifting our eyes with blinders off- what we might have before our very eyes. Facades with hurting individuals searching- unbeknown to them- The Holy Spirit drawing them near us for a reason. Light Reaching out a hand or kind word- looking outside of our self created box. How important for Christians to […]
